Family Farmers for a Better Future

Blue Ox Farm has been built on the idea that mid-scale agriculture can work in harmony with the natural world to create healthy, sustainable food systems that produce delicious and high-quality products. Our family and our farm are best supported through the strength and resilience of diversity.

The land we care for is nestled within the ancestral home of the Santee Dakota and later St. Croix Ojibwe (Anishinaabeg) people after being forced from their traditional homelands, and other communities of the region. These people continue to steward the lands and waters along the Red Cedar River, north of Lake Menomin (wild rice lake). Their language and culture continue to grow throughout the region due to the deep care, commitment, and resilience of these people.

Our farm is committed to engaging with the historic and ongoing colonization that dispossessed original land stewards and extracted resources from the land while we work to repair our communities and land for all beings.

In addition to farming, our family 'wears many hats' throughout the web of our community. Whether it's serving within nonprofit organizations, advocating for a better future for family-scale and conservation-oriented agriculture, or trying to raise up the next generation with the spark for Good Courage in their hearts, we know that the opportunities to contribute are endless.
